Dozenz is the solo project by British-born songwriter and producer Saleh “Sol” Hamed. Inspired by the industriousness and confidence of Britpop artists, and with a love for playful lyrical patterns and energetic rhythms, Dozenz aims to create a trailblazing sonic identity. For Saleh, mixing different yet complementary views on making music that were born out of unique and diverse backgrounds serves as a powerful way to bring people together, and communicate grand ideas in a way that speaks to everyone.
Saleh’s diverse background in music stretches from writing and performing hip hop to working as a producer, as well as playing and writing songs for various line-ups. Having lived in Northern England, as well as Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi, Saleh began his musical career by drawing inspiration from the Britpop scene as a way to lay out a different path than the traditional culture he had grown up with in the United Arab Emirates. His first rock band Gray Test opened for several international artists touring the United Arab Emirates. He then went on to write songs and play keyboards for the acclaimed Dubai-based rock band Juliana Down from 2003-2008.
After a decade long hiatus to focus on personal life and family, Saleh is returning to the music fold as Dozenz with his first single “Need Nobody”, followed up with the five-track EP Versions. His first full length album Bring Me Back Brighter is currently being recorded.
